444 meaning what, exactly?

After I met her, I kept seeing 444 everywhere. What did it mean?
She was beautiful. The first time I saw her, she had just walked into our office to pick up a friend, one of my co-workers. I glanced at the clock because I thought it was a little early. It was. It was 4:44 p.m. So I said to myself, I just saw the most beautiful girl in the world at 4:44 p.m. Did that mean anything, I didn’t think so.
Of course, I talked with her, and we happen to hit if off really well, which was neat. So I got her phone number, and it was 444-0444. Neat, huh? So I wondered, what’s the exact meaning of 444, if any? It was a stray thought. Then driving home, I got stuck in heavy traffic just as I was getting ready to exit, a car cut me off. I actually missed my exit. The car in front of me had the license plate number, LUV-444. This totally blew me away. I mean, the last thing I wanted to start thinking about was numerology, but it was so strange!
And that was only on Monday, I saw that number all week. I woke up every morning at 4:44 a.m. I usually wake up at around five, so this wasn’t that unusual. But still it struck me as strange. In the morning, I bought a new flavored bagel at the shop across the street from my office. The price of this bagel with a cup a coffee and the addition of taxes turned out to be exactly $4.44. It was kind of stupid, but as 444 made me think of the girl I’d met, I bought that damn bagel and coffee every day that week. Every morning I’dd see 444 again and wonder what it meant. On principle, though, I refused to start looking into numerology or horoscopes or astrophysics or whatever. But the thought was there, what does 444 mean? What the meaning of 444?
You know, I also saw 444 in other places as well. Just browsing through reports at work, the number would come up everywhere. I mean, I saw 444 everywhere. At one point, 444 turned out to be an important figure at a meeting. I shrugged it off. I really didn’t want to make a big deal of it.
I did mention it to two friends whom I trust. I asked the first one of them, “What’s the meaning of 444?”
He said, “444 meaning what, exactly?”
I told him, “I mean, I keep seeing 444 everywhere. What does 444 mean?”
My first friend was really good at math. He claimed that probabilistically, given the number of times we see numbers, and the number of people on the earth, that there must be people seeing the same number repeatedly all the time. He said it was just a matter of probability. He said, that, sure, for those particular individuals it might seem strange, just like winning the lottery might, but it does happen, so I shouldn’t make a big deal about it. He said the meaning of 444 is absolutely nothing. He said if there was one thing he hated, it was numerology and horoscopes and such. He said to stay away from such nonsense.
I asked another friend, his reaction was the same as my other friend. In fact, he asked the same question, “444 meaning what, exactly?”
Now, this friend’s approach was more psychological, but it also had to do with logic and proof. He said I must see a lot of numbers all day long, but that I was ignoring all these other numbers. However, whenever I saw 444, I was paying attention, so that it made me feel as though I was seeing the 444 more than I really was. He said I probably wasn’t really seeing 444 much at all. As far as waking up, he suggested maybe that was just a bit of self-programing. He too said to stay away from numerology, demonology, and whatever else was out there.
Okay, but you’re asking, what happened to the beautiful girl? I called her up on Tuesday—and I don’t know what it was, but we really hit it off well again on the phone. I was talking to her every day, and we had made plans to meet on Friday. On that day, I got a phone call at work at precisely 4:44 p.m. I picked up the phone and it was her! I hadn’t breathed a word to her about seeing 444 all week either, but here’s what happened. She said she wanted to meet me at a really cute pub. She said it was a bit old-fashioned and quiet and we could talk.
It wasn’t far from the office, so I decided to walk there. When I got there, on the lintel above the door, in really big numbers, was the address. It just happened to be 444. I had to laugh, because what else could I do? I was seeing 444 again! What was the meaning of 444? I went in, and after we’d had a drink, and we were both loosening up, I figured what the heck, and I asked her about the number of 444.
Then she asked the exact same question my friends had asked, “444 meaning what, exactly?”
I told her about seeing 444 all week. I told her since I’d seen her, I’d been seeing 444 everywhere. I said it got me wondering about the meaning of 444. I explained to her what my friends had said about numerology, horoscopes, demonology and whatever. She looked blankly for a few seconds. I thought, uh-oh, maybe I shouldn’t have told her the story. Then, she said she had a friend who was into spiritual stuff and actually knew quite a bit about numerology.
So she called her friend up right then and there, and she got the low-down on the meaning of 444. Here is what she said. She said 444 was a potent number. She said 444 meant the angels were around, and that they were watching out for me, that they wanted the very best for me. These three digits were just their way of getting my attention, and telling me I was on the right track; I was doing the right thing.
Well, I’m not religious, but I was sitting across from the most beautiful girl I’d ever met. I loved her smile. And now she was telling me that the angels had arranged our meeting and that was the meaning of 444. Now, if you were me, would you have argued with her?
